When it comes to kombucha brands, there’s certainly no shortage of options, but is GT’s the best kombucha brand out there?
If you’re curious about GT’s brand and want the answers to common questions, you’ve come to the right place. With so many new kombucha brands popping up, it’s hard to know if you’re getting the best option or just another unhealthy beverage.
So, is GT’s Synergy Raw Kombucha the best? I’ve sampled a lot of kombuchas, and I can say it’s my number one favorite kombucha brand! Of course, this is very subjective, and I drink many other brands, but there’s something about GT’s that others can’t quite match, and I’ll detail my reasons throughout this post.
Additionally, I’ll answer common questions about GT’s kombucha, including information about my top Synergy flavors, nutrition, ingredients, and links to purchase.
If you purchase a recommended product after clicking one of the links in this post, I may earn a commission, but you pay nothing more.
GT’s Living Foods
After receiving the gift of a Himalayan Mother SCOBY in the early ‘90s, GT’s started in the family kitchen in 1995.
Later that year, he sold his first two cases of Original to an LA health food store, making him the first to put kombucha on shelves in the US.
GT’s Synergy launched in 1997, and over 25 years later, GT’s is one of the most loved kombucha brands in the world.
Synergy Raw Kombucha Benefits
Believe it or not, kombucha has been around for thousands of years and has many historic health benefits.
Kombucha contains probiotics that are beneficial to your gut and can affect energy levels and enhance your mood.
These probiotics in kombucha help create and maintain your microbiome, giving you better gut reactions to stress and illness.
Kombucha also has active enzymes to assist with better digestion and boost metabolism, so there is no need to think about having that glass of kombucha first thing in the morning!
Does GT’s Kombucha Have a Lot of Sugar?
Sugar is essential to make kombucha, but the SCOBY uses most of it during fermentation. In the case of GT’s Synergy, there is an average of 6g per 8-ounce serving immediately after fermentation. Once they add juice or fruit puree, each flavor will vary from 6g-10g per 8-ounce serving.
How Much Alcohol is In GT’s Raw Kombucha?
GT’s Synergy Raw Kombucha will have less than 0.5% ABV. Even though that’s not much, if you have a sensitivity to alcohol for personal, religious, or dietetic reasons, it’s recommended that you abstain from drinking Kombucha.
Additionally, if you’re pregnant or breastfeeding, it’s recommended to consult with your healthcare professional before introducing something new to your system.
Does GT’s Synergy Kombucha Have Caffeine?
Yes, but the amount is minimal, making Synergy naturally decaffeinated by fermentation, with about 4-8mg of caffeine per 8-ounce serving.
To provide some reference, an average cup of joe has 100mg of caffeine per 8-ounce serving, while decaf clocks in at about 5mg per 8-ounce serving.
Is Synergy Raw Kombucha Unpasteurized?
Yes. GT’s doesn’t pasteurize (heat), filter, or dilute their kombucha.
